Student of Redi School for Digital Integration |
I studied Mining Engineering and worked for 6 years in the field of Health Monitoring of Civil Structures. It goes in the category of Data Analysis in the sense that we used to install various sensors on a civil structure e.g. a hydro dam or a tunnel, gather and process their data continuously to make sure the structure is behaving as technically expected and otherwise to warn the relevant authorities. However, I was working in the sales department and not involved on the actual technical level e.g. programming. Having the desire to get more involved technically I decided to continue my education and I was lucky to get accepted in a Master’s Program in Geophysics offered jointly by Ludwig-Maximilian University and Technical University of Munich where I gained experience in programming. After finishing my Master’s and during my search for jobs I got familiar with the hot topic of Data Science and Machine Learning and found it very fascinating. Luckily, I had the chance to participate in a course called Python for Data Science offered by ReDI School of Digital Integration and hosted by Alexanther Thamm in which we worked on real-world Machine Learning projects. Currently, I am looking for a position as a Data Scientist and especially interested in application of Machine Learning algorithms to Early Warning Systems in order to predict either Natural or Financial Hazards.
